YARD

Fincantieri Merchant Shipbuilding Division Palermo Yard, the largest shiprepair and ship conversion centre in the Mediterranean, is located at the N.E. side of Palermo harbour.

Furthermore the Yard has the availability of the necessary facilities for the construction of vessels up to 160,000 TDW, which can be also utilized for steel structures prefabrication and for the launching of midbody sections required by the ship conversion activity.

The existance of the two graving docks and two floating docks allows the yard to carry out all kind of shiprepairs on any type of vessel.

Vessels in inerted condition can be accommodated.

Machine shop for general repairs of turbines, diesel engines, auxiliary machineries, reconditioning of diesel engine piston crowns, propeller repairs, replacement of liners etc., lathe for large diameter crankshafts and shrink-fitting equipment.

60 ton floating crane available. Heavy and light plate shops equipped for prefabrication.
Turbine re-blading, re-metalling of bearings, dynamic balancing.
Modern pipe shop.
Electric workshop.

Quality control, ultrasonic soundings, magnaflux crack detection, x-ray equipment.

Flying repair squads for maintenance and emergency work worldwide. Equipment for tank coating treatment.

Licensee of Stal Laval, General Electric Co., Foster Wheeler, Babcock - Wilcox and Sperry.

Authorized service station for M.A.N., Sulzer, B.B.C. Brown Boveri (turbochargers), HDW (sterntube sealings).

Special licence agreements with major main engine manufacturers (B&W, Gotaverken, Sulzer).

All classification Societies and Salvage Associations represented in Palermo.
